JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for independently managing complex global logistics operations, export/import compliance, and material flow supporting semiconductor equipment and component shipments. This role exercises judgment in selecting carriers, interpreting trade regulations, resolving shipment issues, and coordinating with international stakeholders. The position also contributes to procurement strategy, supplier communication, and continuous improvement of logistics processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Procurement Management:
• Independently prepare, evaluate, and process purchase requisitions, purchase orders, change orders, and RFQs.
• Assess supplier quotations and select optimal sources based on cost, lead time, technical requirements, and total value.
• Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, freight terms, and service levels with suppliers to support operational and financial objectives.
• Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies, quality standards, and industry regulations.
• Review and reconcile purchase orders, receipts, and invoices, resolving discrepancies through supplier and internal coordination.
• Maintain oversight of orders, amendments, shipping notices, and procurement documentation to ensure accuracy and audit readiness.
• Utilize internal and customer procurement portals to manage purchase orders, reporting, and supplier communication.

Global Export, Import & Trade Compliance
• Oversee the preparation, review, and approval of all export, import, and domestic shipping documentation, ensuring full compliance with U.S. and international trade regulations.
• Interpret and apply export/import rules (EAR, ITAR, HTS classification, country-specific requirements) to determine proper documentation, labeling, and packaging.
• Serve as the primary liaison with customs brokers, providing guidance, clarifications, and additional documentation as needed.
• Maintain compliance records and generate reports for insurance, audits, and regulatory inquiries.
• Develop and refine internal procedures for trade compliance and documentation accuracy.

Strategic Logistics Planning & Shipment Management
• Independently plan and coordinate domestic and international shipments, selecting optimal carriers, freight forwarders, and shipping modes based on cost, urgency, and risk.
• Monitor all shipments proactively, identify potential delays, and implement corrective actions to maintain delivery commitments.
• Lead investigations into shipment discrepancies, damages, or customs holds, and communicate resolutions to management, Sales, and HQ.
• Manage relationships with freight forwarders and logistics partners, negotiating schedules, service levels, and performance expectations.
• Provide regular shipment status updates to HQ in Japan and collaborate on cross-border logistics planning.

Operational Logistics & Physical Shipment Oversight
• Oversee the preparation of outbound shipments, ensuring proper packaging, cushioning, ESD protection, and compliance with hazardous goods requirements (if applicable).
• Direct and participate in physical handling of shipments up to 100+ lbs using appropriate tools (dollies, pallet jacks).
• Maintain inventory of shipping materials and ensure readiness for high-value, sensitive semiconductor equipment shipments.
• Establish and maintain best practices for packing, labeling, and handling to reduce risk and improve efficiency.

Other & Miscellaneous
• Support continuous improvement efforts across logistics and purchasing processes.
• Maintain accurate records, logs, and documentation for audits and internal reporting.
• Assist with freight cost tracking, invoice reconciliation, and budget-related tasks.
• Provide cross-departmental support and serve as backup for related supply chain functions.
• Participate in special projects and perform additional duties that enhance overall logistics and operational efficiency.
• Perform other related duties as needed to support overall business operations.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3–5 years of experience in logistics, export/import, or supply chain coordination, ideally in semiconductor, electronics, or high tech manufacturing.

TOOLS & EQUIPMENT
• Use of hand tools, such as dolly, measurement tape, cutter knife, etc.
• General office equipment including phones, personal computer, email, fax, copier and includes pager and mobile phone.
• Software includes the use of Windows operating system & MS Office.
