Detail: Summary
Responsible for maintaining plastic injection molds to ensure proper production. Also modifies molds as needed to meet product requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Read and follow blueprints to maintain molds (machining, welding, polishing)
Send molds requiring major repairs to external vendors
Repair mold heaters
Work with hydraulic cylinders
Install and maintain water lines for mold cooling
Prepare molds for shipping and receive new molds
Perform electrical troubleshooting
Diagnose and repair mold issues
Track inventory of molds and parts
Coordinate and manage external repair projects
Maintain flash levels below 20%
Qualifications
Required:
2 years of technical school training or 5 years of related experience (e.g., tool and die making)
Knowledge:
Basic metric system
Blueprints and schematics
Basic math and algebra
Skills:
Effective communication
Abilities:
Read and understand instructions and memos
Communicate clearly in small group or one-on-one settings
Perform basic calculations (fractions, percentages, multiplication, division)
Physical Requirements
Frequent standing and walking
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
