A Japanese Tier-1 automotive supplier is seeking a Sales Account Manager / Sales Manager to support major Japanese OEM customers (JOE M). This role manages existing accounts, develops new business opportunities, and serves as a key liaison between customers and internal teams.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Account Manager primary responsibility is to secure new business while maintaining and expanding current business, ensuring exceptional customer experience in alignment with customer. This role requires strong communication skills in as you will interface regularly with the customer. The ideal candidate has a strong automotive background in leather or textiles, or related commodities such as automotive seating and interior. A proven sales leadership experience, and the ability to operate effectively in a multicultural business environment.
Requirements:
•This is a full-time in office position at our Novi Office.
•Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in sales account management
• At least 5-7 years of account management and/or business development
• Prefer experience with automotive leather/textiles, or related commodities such as automotive seating or steering wheels. Equivalent work experience may also be considered
• Ability to travel
• Strong communication and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications but not required
Japanese or Spanish language abilities
Background in SAP or other ERP systems
Essential functions of the job:
• Customer Commercial Management Develop pricing and commercial proposals and negotiate with customer.
• Develop proposals that meet customer requirements
• Customer Relationship Management Deliver customer’s information, solve customer’s problems, receive requests of information, be the window person between customer and our manufacturing plant.
• Deliver issues to related departments, provide solutions, proposals, and obtain feedback.
• Visit Customers; gather information incl. business opportunities, volumes, capacity, and financial status. Build strong relationship with customers
• Identify, pursue, and realize commercial opportunities
• Collect 5-year business plan information from customer
• Secure PO and release to internal departments; May include using our internal SAP system
• Process orders, manufacturing requests and delivery date management
• Quoting prototype and new business
• Create / Maintain Bump Chart
• Customer Price Breakdown Form Development / Maintenance / History
• Customer Commercial Open Issues
• Account Receivables Issue Resolution
• Must comply with all company policies and procedures
• Employee must have the ability to travel within the US and internationally
• Ability to multitask, interact politely and professionally with customers, suppliers and vendors, and work cooperatively with employees at all levels.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in verbal and written form Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint proficient in Excel.
