General Position Summary
This position is responsible for managing all store activities for the purpose of increasing sales and realizing profit
in absence of store manager. Duties include supervising and directing all subordinate employees, and assures
that all procedures are handled promptly and correctly. In addition, this position is required to perform customer
service in the store to satisfy customer needs.
Essential Job Functions
FRONT AREA MANAGEMENT
Responsible for the day-to-day management and supervision of the store activities including identifying and solving problems, verifying documents and assisting subordinate employees, as needed.
Trains, evaluates and reviews subordinate employees.
Responsible for staffing, work assignments, scheduling and work reviews.
Motivates, develops and mentors subordinate employees for improved performance.
Oversees and ensures that established policies, rules and regulations, and procedures are followed.
Develops sales strategies and determines sales potential by conducting researches and analyzing financial health and industry outlook of prospective customers.
Responsible for sales promotion activities and necessary preparation.
Responsible for planning and developing special events periodically.
Researches and collects information for sales and marketing related data.
Manages whole process of return merchandise such as, identifying unpopular and unsold books, providing instructions to employees for inventory reduction , ensuring data of returned books to vendors in the system is updated, merchandise was returned to vendor, and the Company receives credits.
Responsible for taking an inventory of an entire store annually by giving directions to all employees. Verifies data gathered in store’s local computer, and submits data to headquarter by email.
Prepares weekly and monthly reports and sends to a parent company in Japan and headquarter.
Prepares daily sales records.
Manages all activities of receiving and sending orders of merchandises.
Handles complaints, problems and requests from customers, employees and vendors.
Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working area for both employees and customers.
Manages bank transaction of store and issues local checks.
Responsible for depositing cash from sale to bank and prepares cash registers for daily store opening.
Responsible for coordinating all accounts payable activities including the review of invoices.
Reviews all expenses and prepares for paying out.
May help other stores as needed.
May identify new merchandise for store sales.
HUMAN RESOURCES ADMINISTRATION
Responsible for employees’ pay calculation.
Responsible for conducting interviews, hiring policies, procedures of hiring and termination.
Manages full-time employees’ vacation information, and encourages full-time employees to take vacation if it’s not used.
Evaluates subordinates employees, and conducts performance evaluation meetings.
Prepares and coordinates crime prevention and disaster measures.
Works with Store Manager and/or Assistant Manager and Human Resources Officer as needed.
CASHIER & SALES ATTENDANT
Provides proper role modeling for part-time and full-time employees when assisting customers.
Handles books requested to be exchanged and returned.
Responsible for handling damaged merchandise’s discount.
OTHER & MISCELLANEOUS
Attends manager meetings.
Sorts daily mail which needs to be forwarded to NY office.
Responsible for maintaining proper safe procedures including depositing cash and assuring safe is locked.
Input and process data for purchase, expense and invoice.
Seeks constant improvement, more efficient and less expensive ways and means in work processes.
Performs special projects and other miscellaneous duties as assigned by management.
Maintains high ethical standards in the work place.
Reports all irregular issues and problems to management for solution.
Maintains good communication with supervisors, other staff members and outside contacts.
Complies with all company policies and procedures.

Qualifications
Education & Work Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have five years of previous experience in a similar position at a retail business.
Must have at least two years of supervisory and managerial position in the past. (Assistant Manager Level)
